Welcome
Welcome to Uncommon-Art  .. A club for people who enjoy artwork that may be "outside the box" in some fashion. It could be wildly outside the box, or just a little different than what you normally view while browsing DA.

This club is aimed at helping everyone who is a member, view artwork from a community of "outsider" art. We are also here to help all of our members in any way we can. So feel free to ask any questions about design, submitting, or chatting.

If you'd like to get a better idea of what this club might be about, feel free to browse the favorites that the staff has added.

News
writen by: *Touch-and-Go

If you would like me to put the watermark on your submitted deviations to this club, please note me with the word "watermark" in the subject. From now on please specify whether or not you'd like a watermark when you submit your artwork in a note. :)

There are about 10-11 submissions to the "Orange" contest so far. These will be posted once the submission stage is over. :)

Current Contest

Orange

The current contest is just titled "Orange". Anyone who is part of the club is allowed to enter (this means you must have added this account to your 'watched' list).

We'd like to see deviations that make you think of orange, have used the color orange predominantly, or have the word orange written predominantly on the image.

The 1st place winner will receive a deviantWEAR T-shirt which are generally $20.00. Once the winner is chosen they will have to add the shirt they like most to their wishlist, and the Club will purchase this for them

The 2nd place winner will receive a 1 month subscription curtousy of *Touch-and-Go

The 3rd place winner will receive a feature in either *Touch-and-Go's journal or =Raggatron's.

All entries must be received by Feb. 5, 2008. Just send us a note with a link to the piece and put ORANGE as the subject.

How To Join/Submit
To join, all you need to do is add this account to your :+devwatch:.

To submit, note us with a link to the submission. Please put the subject of the note as 'Submit'. Be sure to include any key words you'd like us to include.

You must be a member to submit artwork.

And again, this club is themed after strange, oddball, outsider, different, unique, exceptional, surreal artwork. Please try to keep this in mind when you're submitting since this is a reason for denial.

Be sure to write somewhere in your 'Artist's Comments' that you've given Uncommon-Art permission to submit the deviation.

If you'd like to support us, feel free to put a link in your journal so that others may find our club.. or you may add our stamp:

Disclaimer
We encourage you to submit anything you like, but those who are staffing Uncommon-Art hold the privilege of denying any artwork submitted. Please do not take this personally and feel free to ask us why or submit another piece.

Please only submit your own artwork. If any artwork is found to be a plagiarism it will be removed immediately and reported to deviantArt administration.

I think all submission should automatically be watermarked to ensure they do not get stolen.

I dont think so, it's up to each person. I don't like to see good deviations with this ugly DA marking on it. I dont put it on my mine. Some people steal to boost their poor ego,
and more people put marking to protect their own ego ! I have a much bigger ego : steal my art, you can't steal my style.
Steal my ideas, I 'll have more ideas. Nobody can steal my creativity.
If you steal my commercial work, I'll send a bill with an extra 20% fee added for unauthorised use.

well i wanted to make sure that i offered that =p

i've heard stories of people stealing deviations and printing them to sell in malls or flea markets
:iconuncommon-art:
i'd rather have the option i think.. but maybe it is a good idea :)
:iconamalym:
well it shouldn't be an option - say the artist watermarks all work to ensure that it doesn't get stolen especially now while art theft grows at an alarming rate then they submit their art to a club who doesn't watermark it and it's stolen. The club is then at fault and the artist has a fight on their hands. This makes the club(s) the weak link.

Oooooh !
You'd better to offer it, that's ok. But please, don't make it mandatory.

:iconuncommon-art:
nah, we'd never do that :)
:iconuncommon-art:
no, the person at fault is only the person who originally stole the artwork. either way, the artist always has a fight on their hands.

in each description we clearly state that this artwork was allowed to be posted in this club. it's the same permission we give dA to submit and post our artwork.

and it is up to each individual artist to protect themselves as they see fit.. if they feel the way as you do, they certainly have the choice of only joining and not submitting artwork :)
:iconamalym:
I believe that as a club you have the chance to either help or like I said be the weak link it is unfortunate but true. Now that you are giving the artist the choice it proves you are attempting to help in this issue.
